Summary & Highlights

Welcome to Linchpin Intranet Suite 4.1!

The Linchpin Intranet Suite 4.1 release contains many new features, improvements and a number of bugfixes.

We prepared a short summary of the most important changes, so you can keep track of them. To learn more about a specific topic, simply use the navigation to jump to that part of the release notes.

Linchpin User Profiles has got a great new addition – the Structural Charts! You are probably already familiar with Org Charts. Structural Charts work in a similar way, but allow you to display the structure of your whole company!

Furthermore, we added the possibility to upload CSV data for the cascade select profile field right in the field configuration dialog.

Another new feature is the synchronization report view. Administrators can find detailed information about LDAP sync results in this report now.

The live preview of your news' color configuration is a new feature of Linchpin Theme. See how your changes affect your news in real time and decide what your news should look like, comfortably directly from within the configuration, without the need to switch between tabs.

We also worked on the "Linchpin Teaser" macro. It now features a help text and it's more useful on dashboards with a multi-column layout.

Linchpin Enterprise News features a new filter, "spaces by categories", for the News Hub. You can also restrict the spaces available for subscriptions within the News Hub by categories.

Furthermore, we changed the caching. We noticed that our last "improvement" sadly didn't work out like we wished it would, so we replaced those caches with better ones.

Linchpin Events also received a great new addition – full height background images for event cards! Make your events even more prominent by giving them a slight, modern look.

We also worked on the performance of the signup process, especially for events with large attendee lists, and updated the event calendar to a new technical foundation.

Important

When updating from a version before 2.0.1, or from versions 3.0.0 / 3.0.1, you might be affected by an issue that could cause the installation or the update of the Linchpin Intranet Suite to hang. Please follow the steps described in our knowledge base, prior to updating.

Suite 4.1.2 and Microblog 6.0.4

The microblog timeline can display an infobox about a large number of new microposts during initial page load. A fix for this is part of Linchpin Intranet Suite patch 4.1.3.
If you notice increased system load due to this behavior, please test if updating to Microblog 6.0.5 helps until then. Feel free to reach out to us with any questions: https://seibert.biz/help

Onboarding

Whenever you added a module to the onboarding assistant, the module was named with its technical module key. We updated the app to display a more clear, descriptive name instead (for example: Profile picture upload instead of profile-picture-onboarding-module).

Improvements

  • We changed the display names of the modules used within the onboarding assistant to their descriptive names.
  • We added a tooltip containing the technical module key. To show the tooltip, hover your mouse over the module's name.
