With the help of bitvoodoo's Viewtracker, unread news are marked accordingly.
Users will immediately know if they already read a news article or not. This function is available for the news hub and all news macros.
Unread news will receive a small circle in the upper right corner of a news item. If a news is read, this marker disappears.
Relevant settings
If you use both Linchpin Enterprise News (or the Linchpin Intranet Suite) and bitvoodoo's Viewtracker and yet can't see the markers for unread news, there is a problem with bitvoodoo's privacy setting.
The "unread news" function is only available if the privacy settings don't restrict access to the unique viewers count.
Warning
The Extended Privacy Mode will prevent "unread news markers" to work since it disables the Unique Viewers Count function.
To make sure that everything is set up correctly, navigate to Confluence administration → Configuration → Analytics Cockpit → Privacy.
Make sure that the privacy mode is set to Standard, Hide Viewers or Anonymise Viewers at maximum.
This is necessary because those privacy modes leave the Unique Viewers Count function enabled. This function is needed for news markers to work.
