How do I convert a standard Confluence space to an extranet space?

You can convert an already existing Confluence space to an extranet Space.

To do that, navigate to the space you wish to transform.

Navigate to Space tools → Overview. Then, click on the Convert to extranet space tab. Click on the OK button.

A new window will open. Since all permissions are removed during the conversion, you can select new Extranet Space Managers and Extranet User Managers.

To confirm the conversion, click on the Convert button.

Info

The space description receives an "Extranet Space" prefix and an "Extranet" space label after the conversion.

Converters of an extranet will automatically receive the Extranet Space Manager role, to make sure they can make changes to the extranet.

Please note that Confluence administrators have these rights by default and will be not assigned the extra role.

Assign new permissions

Since all permission are removed during the conversion, it is advisable to add new ones.

After the conversion, the app will open the Extranet Users tab. There you can add new permissions to users or user groups.
